Our Purpose: Three Cores of Presbyterian Mission
For over 20 years, our congregation has been supporting families through our Christmas for Kids program. Shoppers head out to purchase clothing and gifts for local children, using requests from the identified families. Altogether, many children will have a happier Christmas because of gifts from our church.
Large bags filled with gifts are delivered to families from North Lakeland School, Camp Jorn, the Mercer Food Pantry, and to some church families.
We always have plenty of willing shoppers, showing the enthusiasm of congregation members for this long-time mission project.
This project kicks off in mid-November, with gifts due back to church the first week of December.
The mission of Pura Vida is to facilitate the sharing of resources with communities in Guatemala in a meaningful, respectful, and long-term way. Our primary focus is on providing educational opportunities for children in rural villages through scholarships, tutoring, and support of local schools. We encourage others to work with us as we give our time, knowledge, and resources to help poor rural communities attain a standard of living in which their children can thrive. One of the first fair trade organizations in the world, SERRV International began its mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, we've extended our reach to 25 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year by selling their beautiful handcrafts.
We sell artistically made products in our Fellowship Hall. Money generated from the market is managed by the mission committee and supports local, national and international mission initiatives. We accept cash and checks for purchasing after worship on Sundays.
