Confirmation is the process of helping individuals "make firm" the Christian faith into which they were baptized. In our church confirmation is provided for young people between seventh and ninth grade. The classes meet weekly during the academic year, and involve a combination of various learning and service activities. Young people are required to attend the weekly meetings, participate in worship services, and engage in service projects. They are also asked to study particular Scriptures, maintain a prayer journal, complete assignments on the beliefs of Orthodox Christianity, and study Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) forms of Christian faith. At the end of the confirmation process, each "confirmand” is asked to write and share a statement of his or her Christian faith. That faith is then confirmed in a formal worship service.
