WORSHIP AND MUSIC
In 2014 the Manitowish Waters Community Church purchased a new organ, a Rodgers Two-Manual Artist Series model, capable of a wide range of keyboard and recorded music. With this instrument our organist Adele Duranso can create a striking array of music that enriches our services.
Adele sat on her first organist bench at the age of 14 in a little Presbyterian Church in Bessemer, Michigan, and years later was the organist for Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction, WI for 16 years. She was temporarily filling the vacancy left at the Manitowish Waters Community Church when everything fell into place with God’s renewed calling in 2015 to serve as permanent organist for a welcoming congregation, with a wonderful new organ having all of God’s heavenly bells and whistles.
Piano lessons didn't begin for Adele until after a year of playing by ear, when someone recognized that her parents should inquire about formal lessons. At age 11 the piano teacher came to her house for seventy-five cents per half hour every Saturday. The teacher emphasized more of reading notes than of methodology. Adele also received lessons at her home church in Wakefield, MI. The lessons ended five years later due to the family move to Wisconsin, and any further instruction was through trial and error ... and practice, practice, practice!!
